Day 68: A Few Pieces Still Missing

A Few Pieces Still Missing
11/28
At this point in my I was still living with my grandparents and all my spare time was pretty much spent with them. In the fall my grandmother loves to build puzzles and this was one puzzle of many we had build during the season. We would stay up late and she would talk about her life while building different puzzles at the kitchen table, it was very nice to have the these quite calm moments with her. Everyone once in awhile my grandpa would come over and put a piece or two down (always seemed to be when all the hard work was done and the puzzle was almost finished). But the funniest thing was that there was ALWAYS a piece missing from the puzzle, so we never really completed any of them! Sometimes it would be more than one, like in this puzzle two are missing. The pieces would sometimes turn up after we had already started another one, it was a running joke between me and my grandmother. On this night we had just finished a puzzle and I decided I needed to record the time spent with my grandparents. This was a difficult transitional period in my life, where I was working though a lot issues and trying to become a stronger independent person. Living with them at that time was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel really lucky to have had them all to myself for about 6 months and learn so much more about them. Definitely something I cherish very much now and will probably cherish even more later. I titled this picture "A Few Pieces Still Missing" not only because of the obvious, but because of my personal growth at the time. I was slowly building myself up and still had a few pieces missing.

And yes I know my feet are in the picture, I kept them there on purpose....for the metaphor.

Day 67: This is What Happend When Your Mom Decorates Your Bedroom

This is What Happens When Your Mom Decorates Your Bedroom
11/27
While I was in college my mom decided to switch her bedroom with mine since my room was the biggest one in the house.  Though I understood her reasoning for wanting  to switch (I was staying in a dorm at Texas State so I was really only home on weekends), I got really upset about the whole move because she moved all my stuff without me. As a sentimental person, I would have liked to be able to go through my own stuff and let go of the room I grew up in in my own way.  It took me awhile to get over it, but it is water under the bridge now. This picture was taken months after the arranging of the furniture happened and I was fine with my new sleeping arrangement. This is how my mom decorated my "new" room to make it more comfortable for me since I wasn't too happy with the situation at first. It was a nice gesture, and looking back at it now I like that my mom created a environment that in her mind described me. Hawaii, Bright, & Colorful. Almost like how an artist tries to paint or draw a person. My mom is very creative person and doesn't really get to act on that most of the time, so I don't mind that she did the decorating of this room after all. Might seem simple and cheesy.....but I guess I am simple and cheesy.

Day 66: Blurry but Interesting

Blurry but Interesting
11/26
Again I was spending a evening with my mom and brother. Joey just happened to be the subject matter...again. Just a blurry, but interesting picture.

Day 65: A 360 of Village Oak Drive

A 360 of Village Oak Drive
11/25
I don't know what sparked me to do this today, but I am sure it had something to do the fact that it was late and I was scrambling yet again to take a picture for the day. I was at my moms house for some reason (don't remember why now) and I decided to play around outside at night again. I wanted to use my mom's house as my subject and since it is located in a cul-de-sac, I wanted to come up with a way to document the "street" I grew up on. So I ran out in the middle of the cul-de-sac and stood on the round man whole cover to take a long exposure. As the shutter was opened  I turned in a complete circle starting from my moms house until I heard the shuttle close. I tired this a couple times and this was the best image from that experiment. I really enjoyed the outcome of this idea.
