Day 79: Illuminated

Illuminated
12/9
I went to dinner and then downtown with my friends Brittney, Joe and, Gabe. I took my camera with me since I needed to take a picture of the day and I knew we would be going for a walk along the river. I took several shots of the lights on the river, but this one was my favorite. I was standing on top of a bridge and set my camera down on the edge for a slow shutter speed. I like how illuminated this picture is, even if in person the river might be TOO illuminated.

Day 78: Morning Start

Morning Start
12/8
It was a cold morning! I had to scarp ice off of my car before heading to work and had this lovely sunrise to look at. While warming up my car, I went back into the house to grab my camera and snap this picture. It was a nice start to the morning!

Day 77: Mug Wall

Mug Wall
12/7
Grandma's wall of mugs! This wall is in the kitchen at my grandparents house and serves as decoration as well as a collection. Each mug has some significance to a person or place my grandparent's have visited. I can say the Hawaii, "I love Grandma" and decoupage blue mug all came from me!

Day 76: Sweet Gerogia Peach

Sweet Georgia Peach
12/6
This was another day of secretly taking pictures of Barbies for my grandmother. This Barbie, Sweet Georgia Peach, is my favorite doll that my grandmother ever made me. She is so beautiful! I only ever had a few displayed in my room when I was growing up and she was one of them. Everything about this doll is amazing! I am so glad she is one of mine.

Day 75: The Cubby

The Cubby
12/5
This is the view of my little cubby of a bedroom. The bed I use at my grandparents was build by my grandfather and literally is built like a cubby. It is cozy though the room is very small and compact. This space plays a really big part in describing and sometimes emphasizing my emotional state at this point in my life. Going through so many changes at once and feeling really lonely, was almost  intensified by this space. Confined and all bottled up...but really...life isn't all bad. It can only go up from here! So in this small space, I decorated every inch of it that I could! I am not the type of person that likes empty wall space and since my life is pictures, I tend to have pictures everywhere. This is my view as I sleep...and yes that is New Kids on the Block and most importantly The Backstreet Boys.

Day 74: Glow

Glow
12/4
This is the little tree I get to decorate at my grandparents house every Christmas. When I put this tree up, there are certain ornament I MUST use ever year. My favorites are this little ceramic animals- mice, and bears and cats. They were always the ones I would look for on the tree when I was little...so I make sure I pull them down out of the closet and put them on the tree. The other ornaments I love are these homemade ornaments (made by my Aunt) with all the names of the grandkids: Shannon, Lindsey, Zaida, Victoria, Alex, Eric, & Joey. I took this picture after my grandparents went to bed, wanting to capture the glow of this little tree!

Day 73: Bright Star

Bright Star
12/3
I went to visit my dad in Floresville to help him decorate his Christmas tree. It seems it has become the tradition for me to be "the person" to decorate every Christmas tree for my family.....my mom's, my dad's and my grandparents...not to mention the store Christmas Tree at work. It is something I enjoy doing, but it can be a lot to do in my already busy schedule. Anyway...this evening there was a little parade for the lighting of downtown Floresville for Christmas, as city counsel man my Dad was asked to ride on a parade float. My brother and I watched and waited to see my dad while munching on Kettle popcorn. I had my camera with my and took a few photos of the activities of the evening. After the parade we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then went to the local tree farm, HEB, to pick out the tree. Getting the tree is always a surprise since we always have to buy it tied up. We never know really how big it is going to be! In this case it was really big....almost too big for my grandma's small house.  It was pretty funny and became the joke of the evening. This shot is of the star at the top of the tree. The final touch of the night.
