Day 93: Army Green

Army Green
12/23
Every once in awhile, my brothers old toys pop up. I found the reappearance of this solider to be amusing. I still think he plays with them (action figures) from time to time- you never really grow up.

Day 92: Bows

Bows
12/22
Today was the day I started wrapping presents! When I wrap presents I pile everything up and spend a few hours with wrapping paper, tape, and bows. I usually do this while watching a Christmas Movie, this year it was The Family Stone. Some people might hate wrapping, but I actually enjoy this process. It's a part of Christmas as much as trimming the tree and decorating cookies.

Day 91: Sugar Cookies

Sugar Cookies
12/21
It's tradition to have a baking day with all the cousins at my grandmother's house for Christmas. This is usually an all day event where we make a ton of things, often too many things. I took this picture after all the madness of the day was over with. As you can see, the most important cookies we bake are Christmas sugar cookies. They may not be the most fabulous looking cookies, but we have tons of fun hanging out together all day. And of course they taste good!

Day 90: Burst

Burst
12/20
Since it has been some time since I took this picture, I again don't remember why I took it. I am not even sure where it was taken. But it is safe to assume that is was taken late and probably a last minute idea. The outcome resulted in a burst of orange light.

Day 89: Butterflies & Flowers

Butterflies & Flowers
12/19
I bought this butterfly and flower wind chime when I went to visit my sister in Mississippi awhile ago. This is a picture of it hanging in my bedroom at my grandparents in 2011. I still have it today!

Day 88: You Might Want to Fix That?

You Might Want to Fix That?
12/18
That hole in the deck just might need to be fixed, but it probably never will be. In photographing a lot of things at my grandparents house lately, it has become quite clear how old things are. It's sad really when you think about it- this deck was once a project built by my grandpa and now it is falling apart. He was always the type of man that built and fix things himself, but in the past few years he has slowed down and doesn't do much anymore. This broken board on the deck represents another thing aged and changed by time.

Day 87: Comfortable

Comfortable
12/17
I was watching TV at my grandparents house with the family when I noticed my brother watching TV in this position. What a little weirdo, but I think he was comfortable? I figured this would make for an interesting picture of the day.

Day 86: Necklaces

Necklaces
12/16
For Christmas, my sister and her little family came to visit! Here is a moment shared between my niece Allie and my grandmother. I think Allie was having a good time with all Grandma's beaded necklaces.

Day 85: Game Time

Game Time
12/15
The most entertaining thing about my day was this guy. My little brother tends to spend a lot of time in his room playing video games and today was no exception. I took this picture by sitting in front of his TV and keeping the shutter open for a while. Joey's blurry face, due to the lapse of time, is meant to show time just passing this boy by. Not that there is anything wrong with this. At the end of the day we all have habits that pass the time away...like taking photos perhaps....

Day 84: Red Wall

Red Wall
12/14
Again I took a Christmas Tree picture. This time, I was interested in the shadow of the tree on a red wall at my Mom's house. Something simple, nothing complicated about this one.

Day 83: Comfort and Joy

Comfort and Joy

12/13
A late night view of the Christmas tree at my Mom's house. This tree is always the fullest and prettiest tree around! I love decorating it every year with ornaments that hold many memories for me. As I was growing up, my Aunt gifted me (Shannon and Joey too) with a Hallmark Ornament each Christmas. My collection of ornaments holds a special place in my heart and they make the Christmas tree at my mom's house beautifully unique. There is certainly nothing like hanging them up on this tree every year. Many things change, but this tree never! One of the many joys and comforts of Christmas.

Day 82: And Another

And Another
12/12
This is a picture of another completed puzzle by my Grandparents and I. Notice the one missing piece and the piece that is coming apart on the top right. Like I have mentioned previously, at least one piece is always missing. It's now a funny joke between us. This picture also documents another moment I spent with my grandparents, doing an activity I normally wouldn't be. Reflecting on that time now, I am really happy I have pictures that document all that time I spent with them.

Day 81: Mom's Hot Chocolate

Mom's Hot Chocolate
12/11
There is nothing better during Christmas time than my Mom's hot chocolate! I was visiting her house this day (editing photos I am sure) and I made my usual request of hot chocolate. She has several key ingredients- vanilla and chocolate chips I think? Whatever the ingredients maybe she definitely makes the best. I get much comfort from a warm cup of hot chocolate made from my mom. Especially when there are marshmallows in it too!

Day 80: Leaf Blur

Leaf Blur

12/10
It has been such a long time since I took this picture, I don't really remember my intent in taking it. What I do know, is that it was taken really late on a wet and rainy night. I probably meant to take a sharp picture of this leaf, but because it was dark I used a slow shutter and I doubt I was able to keep a steady hand if it was cold outside. It is also clear to me that this was taken on the stone path leading up to the stairs at my grandparents house. Looking at this picture...years later...I like the blur and gloom of it.....it seems like an accident.
